Spray furniture with a good polish. Cover with drop cloths.

Do not store food items.

Defrost refrigerators and leave the door open.

List contents of boxes on all sides, number and seal with tape.

Use boxes, plastic bags or clothing bags for storing clothes.

Wrap mattresses in plastic or paper and do not sit directly on
concrete floor.

Keep all items off the floor if possible to let air underneath.

To retard rusting of exposed metal, use a light coating of oil.

To avoid moth etc damage whilst goods are in storage it is
advisable to liberally use moth ball or similar product.

Plan your storage space. Place those items that you may need
access to in the front and allow for walkways.

Make up an inventory of your stored items and keep in a safe
place elsewhere.

Stack lighter boxes on top of heavier ones.

Wrap pictures and mirrors in cardboard and mark “FRAGILE”
and stack on end.

Large appliances can be uses as “packing cases” for blankets,
towels cloths etc.

Shovels, rakes, hoes etc can be stored together in empty rubbish
cans.

Tables with removable legs should be “broken down” to save
space.

Do not place heavy or sharp objects on top upholstered
furniture.

Even though the management take precautions against mice these
can come in with other tenant’s belongings

IT IS THEREFORE ADVISABLE TO PLACE RODENT CONTROL BAITS INSIDE
YOUR STORAGE UNIT.

It is not advisable to store pianos or art objects.

To guard against linens drawing damp wrap a cup of soap powder
in a man-size handkerchief and store amongst sheets and other
linens.
